Please Be Aware
As an employee of the Library, you are expected to obey all applicable laws and university policies regarding software piracy. You should not engage in piracy yourself, nor should you assist someone else who is engaging in piracy. Assistance includes not only physical assistance, but also includes verbal or written instructions.

In addition, it is SDSU's policy not to provide any assistance to someone who is clearly working with pirated software. Obviously, there are cases which are unclear and we should give the individual the benefit of the doubt. But if someone has software (my friend copied for me) and inquiry confirms that the item is an illegal copy of proprietary software, the employee of the Library should refuse to assist, and refer the individual to their supervisor.

Any employee of the Library who assists a individual to make an illegal copy of proprietary software is violating SDSU's guidelines, and may be subject to disciplinary action. This does not include helping someone recover a damaged original diskette, or helping the owner learn how to create a backup copy. Anything that is within the spirit of the copyright law is acceptable.
