Pagemaster's Corner: Quality Assurance Guidelines for Infodome
Following are the quality assurance checks that all pages on Infodome need to pass.
This guide includes:
HTML standards
- All new pages added to Infodome should contain valid HTML 4.0 Transitional or higher.
- Pagemasters are responsible for checking pages with the W3C HTML Validation Service and for getting help from the Webmaster with anything that they don't know how to fix. Pages already in existence as of June 2002 may not comply, but the Webmaster will work towards converting those that are heavily used.
- To this end, HTML code will be kept simple unless the pagemaster has the knowledge necessary to make more complex HTML code valid.
Other HTML resources:
Web accessibility standards
- All new pages added to Infodome should comply with Section 508 accessibility standards. Pages already in existence as of June 2002 may not comply, but the Webmaster will work towards converting those that are heavily used.
- Pagemasters are responsible for checking pages with the Bobby Section 508 tester and for getting help from the Webmaster with anything that they don't know how to fix.
- To this end, HTML code will be kept simple (no unnecessary tables, images, Flash etc.) unless the pagemaster has the skills and knowledge necessary to make more complex code Section 508 accessible.
