Purpose of the PAC
To let our patrons and others know if the Library owns a particular work(s),
whether print or electronic
- To find it easily
- To discern easily
- To find information on a given topic
- To provide help and hints to users "remote" from a service desk
To provide easy access to alternative resources and services
- If the material is not owned
- If the patron is in the "wrong place"
Why Redesign?
- To use new features of the WebOPAC
- To provide easy navigation within the PAC and to elsewhere
- Give our users more help
- Update / improve look and feel
- Build in redundancy (more than one way of navigating; quicker searching
for "power" users)
- Remove jargon or explain it
- Assure compliance with ADA
