Purpose of the PAC

To let our patrons and others know if the Library owns a particular work(s), whether print or electronic

• To find it easily
• To discern easily
• To find information on a given topic
• To provide help and hints to users "remote" from a service desk

To provide easy access to alternative resources and services

• If the material is not owned
• If the patron is in the "wrong place"

Why Redesign?

• To use new features of the WebOPAC
• To provide easy navigation within the PAC and to elsewhere
• Give our users more help
• Update / improve look and feel
• Build in redundancy (more than one way of navigating; quicker searching for "power" users)
• Remove jargon or explain it
• Assure compliance with ADA
